“In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.” — Martin Luther King Jr. This quote gives me great courage to step up to the plate for someone I believe in and consider to be a friend. He is a friend to every Kansan.

Growing up in western Kansas taught Sen. Jerry Moran that government can make the lives of Kansas families, farmers and businesses more difficult by creating uncertainty and throwing needless regulations, taxes, fees and restrictions our way.

Moran was one of only 17 out of 435 members of Congress who opposed every bailout and stimulus package during and following the Great Recession. And Moran works hard for the same core principles shared by most Kansans: the sanctity of human life, strong families and religious liberty.

Protecting the homeland is the most basic function of Congress and is the core constitutional purpose of the federal government. Moran is proud to represent a state with such a rich heritage of military history and such impressive installations. Fort Riley, Fort Leavenworth and McConnell AFB, as well as our impressive National Guard and Reserve activity, are all key components of both our national defense and our local communities.

Working in Washington takes the courage to stand up for what is right, and to change what is wrong. Moran will never lose sight of his roots in Kansas that taught him the fundamentals of our freedom, fighting for fairness, protecting our children and giving each and every one of us the right to speak out, to work hard and pursue happiness.

I support Sen. Jerry Moran, and hope you will too in the upcoming election. And I especially hope you will not be silent, but you will make your voice count and vote.
