March 26, 2009 – United States Senator and conservative leader Tom Coburn of Oklahoma today endorsed Congressman Jerry Moran’s bid for the U.S. Senate in 2010.
“Jerry Moran has been a good friend and colleague of mine for years,” Sen. Coburn said. “He is a man of his word – a man of character and integrity. Jerry has been a great ally in the fight against wasteful spending and earmarks. His election to the United States Senate would be a tremendous benefit to those of us fighting against the bailouts and irresponsible spending in Washington, D.C. I give him my strongest endorsement for the U.S. Senate.”
Senator Coburn was first elected to the United States Senate in 2004. Known for his outspoken, principled conservative leadership, Coburn has become a national leader in reducing wasteful spending, balancing the budget and protecting human life. Coburn, a physician by trade, also works extensively on improving the quality and affordability of health care.
“I appreciate the endorsement of my friend Tom Coburn and look forward to working along side him to promote the issues important to Kansas and America,” Moran said. “Like Senator Coburn, I have consistently voted with the understanding that the American people should have more say on what they do with their money, not the federal government.”
Moran is the leading candidate to replace Sam Brownback in the United States Senate in 2010. The only poll conducted by a Republican polling firm showed Moran up by 16 percent over his nearest competitor.
