December 18, 2008 – Today Congressman Jerry Moran released the following statement in response to the announcement by Senator Sam Brownback that he will be retiring from the U.S. Senate at the end of his term in 2010:
“Senator Brownback has been a long-time friend and I commend him for his many years of public service to Kansas. The Senator is someone who is unwavering in his beliefs and steadfast in his principles, including sticking to a term-limit pledge he made more than a decade ago to run for just two terms in the United States Senate.
“At the urging of Kansans from all corners of the state, I am now a candidate for the U.S. Senate, with the hope of continuing to be an independent voice for all Kansans. A formal announcement of my candidacy will come at a later time.”
