Since first being elected to the Kansas State Senate in 1988, I have consistently voted for legislation that protects the lives of the unborn and have been a staunch supporter of issues dealing with life. I am a pro-life, pro-family candidate. In past campaigns, I have been supported by Kansans for Life and National Right to Life because of my support of legislation that preserves the sanctity of life.
In Congress, I have worked to pass laws that reduce the funding for and availability for people to receive abortions, including the Partial Birth Abortion Ban Act and the Unborn Victims of Violence Act. I have been a sponsor of the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act. This legislation would amend title X of the Public Health Service Act to prohibit family planning grants from being awarded to any entity that performs abortions. I have also sponsored legislation that would reinstate the Mexico City policy. The Mexico City policy would restrict assistance to foreign organizations that perform or actively promote abortions.
I will continue to support measures that protect human life, from conception until a natural death.
